The Therapy Animals Program

The Therapy Animal Program will utilize specially trained animals in a therapeutic setting to help achieve therapy goals. animal-assisted therapy includes, but is not limited to : Equine, llama, canines and dolphin-assisted therapies.

The Nature Center and Farm

The Nature Center and Farm Therapy Program will enlist the use of domesticated farm animals with therapist interacting with children and adults in a non-clinical setting. Therapeutic techniques are applied, consciously using nature, and natural settings and the environment. the emphasis is on developing senses, cognitive learning, reducing attention deficit and teaching responsibility through farm tasks. Relationship development, self-confidence building and integrated developmental skills are actualized while working with the whole person.

The Wilderness Exposure Program

The Wilderness Exposure Program will offer wilderness excursions that are designed to promote, educate and empower clients. The wilderness exposure provides opportunities to integrates clients' nature experiences into their personal lives.

Animal Rescue Program

Through the Animal Rescue Program, APT will identify animals that are abused, neglected or abandoned and are in need of intervention. APT will: Coordinate rescue and rehabilitation efforts; place and pair animals with people and programs, and train appropriate rescued animas for use in our therapeutic activities.

Each activity will be conducted by individuals and/or teams of therapists, experienced service providers, trained experts, experienced wilderness leaders and trained medical providers. On-going therapy is offered through weekly sessions, summer camps and yearly programs.

APT will create financial equality for underprivileged individuals and/or groups. Opportunities will be provided for those who are unable to afford animal-assisted therapy, and therapy in nature and wilderness and farm settings. APT will also provide interventions for under-served animals with possibilities for rescue, rehabilitation and retraining. These therapy and rescue programs will provide tax-exempt benefits for individuals and organizations that wish to contribute funds and resource to support and further our mission and activities.

Each activity will be funded by grants, volunteered time, personal donations, corporate donations and in-kind donations. If you are interested in donating to APT and/or volunteering at any level, please contact Kathy Nunemaker at 303-931-8313.

Animals and People Together has been granted 501(c)(3), non-profit status by the IRS. Any and all donations made to APT are fully tax deductible.
